EL HASSAN TRUST

Diversity and unity should not be incompatible. Whilst there are different cultures and civilizations in the world, all have contributed to universalism, and the values that we share today have a sound basis in many different traditions. However, we are currently facing extreme forms of polarization across the globe. The schisms are numerous and the inequities stark. Many of the issues and potential points of conflict are rooted in misconceptions and misunderstandings of 'the other', stereotyped representations and the marginalization that denies people their basic freedoms and right to human dignity.

Promoting religious and racial harmony, combating poverty and inequality, and making participation possible through education and development are the key aims of El Hassan Trust. We have to give future generations some constructive hope, as well as inspiration, that it is possible to build a better world. This moral imperative is centered on an ethic of human understanding. What is needed is a policy framework for human interaction and inter-existence - a universal ethic of human understanding. It begins with discerning in our diversity the potential for mutual enrichment and benefit.
